On Mother’s Day, people spend time with their mom, grandma, and/or wife and buy them a nice gift to show them how much they appreciate them. For Americans, Mother’s Day is always the second Sunday of May. This year it landed on Sunday May 10, the same day as Mexican Mother’s Day which is always May 10.
Many students at Southeast like to make things for their mothers such as cards, drawings, food, desserts or origami flowers.
Leo Rodrigeuz, a DREAMS eight grader, said “I will buying my mom flowers, chocolate and making her ceviche.”
Brigitte Macias, a sixth grader in DREAMS said, “I gave her flowers and a gift card and baked her some cookies.”
Making arts and crafts may be a better idea because people can show off their creativity and personalize it.
Sebastian Rodriguez, a seventh grader in DREAMS said, “I’m going [go out] to eat for Mother’s day and I will be buying her some shoes”.
Abigail Felix, a sixth grader in SEMS said, “We went to the Americans girl doll cafe, and took my mom to Home Depot and bought flowers to plant.”
Although students like to make arts and crafts, others like to buy gifts instead, and go out to a nice restaurant.
Many staff and teachers spent Mother’s Day with their family and bought gifts as well.
Mr. R, a DREAMS student teacher said “ I’m taking my wife to the Dodgers Mother’s Day Nights and for my mom I will be buying her perfume’’.
Mother’s Day is important because people get to show their mom/wife how much they appreciate them and spend time with them.
