Many students have their own favorite teachers. Some of them like many teachers while some like only one teacher. A lot of students have opinions on what teachers their favorite while some might disagree on that opinion..
“My favorite teacher is Ms. Mayorga. Ms. Mayorga is my favorite teacher because she is very understandable because she doesn’t make anything too hard for anyone,” said sixth grader Abigail Felix.
Some students don’t have favorite teachers because some students may not like the teachers but some students have said they have more than one favorite teacher.
“[Mr. Vargas is] my favorite teacher because whenever I’m in a bad mood, he’s always there to pull me aside and ask me what’s wrong, if I just wanna step out a bit. My other favorite teachers are Ms. Diaz, she’s also a really nice and fun teacher, and Ms. Tran because she makes math fun,“ said eighth grader Robert Soto.
Robert Soto was one of the students who chose more than one teacher as their favorite but there was another student who liked the same teacher like Dorian Vedder.
“Mr. Vargas is my favourite teacher because he understands my humor and he gets a lot of the jokes I make,” said eighth grader Dorian Vedder.
Some students picked some certain teachers as favorites because they do fun activities or just overall chosen as favorites. Some students don’t really hate the teachers, it’s just the teachers don’t give them good grades and that is mainly because of their work habits and behaviors.
“My favorite teacher is Ms. Avalos. Ms. Avalos makes me feel comfortable and she lets me ask her questions and help,” said seventh grader Mienna Lopez.
To some SEMS students, certain personality traits made teachers stand out to them.
“My favorite teachers are Ms. Alvarez, Ms. Vaca, and Mr Martinez. Ms. Alvares is my favorite teacher and is my favorite because she helps us. Mr. Martinez is cool and funny. Mr. Vaca is chill and he lets you relax,” said eighth grader Anderson Santamaria.
From all of the student interviews in order for a teacher to be a good teacher that students favor is because the teachers are kind, respectful, playful, and more understanding than some teachers.
