May 21st, the yearbook became available for pickup at the student store.
Pre-orders had started in January.
Juilo Vasquez, eighth grade, stated that he liked and enjoyed the yearbook but wasn’t fond of the price. He thought it should not have cost $45.
A common complaint was the price of the yearbook.
Brandon Sanchez, a seventh grade student who didn’t buy the yearbook, felt that the yearbook cost too much and thought it was gonna be boring and only thought it was people’s faces.
Ms. Lipp, the yearbook adviser, stated they plan to find ways to lower the price next year.
What does the Yearbook contain?
The Yearbook contains one hundred pages, with the first five pages containing the introduction. Five through fifty two contain students and staff. Fifty three through eighty four contain events, clubs, and sport. The final 15 pages contain academics and autographs.
Making the yearbook takes place in 5th period, the class taught by Ms. Lipp. Yearbook students work the entire school year. Students get taught how to do proper photography, how to caption photos, how to do a layout, and how to edit videos.
This year is the first year the Yearbook and Journalism became two separate classes.
For the first month of the school year students got taught the basics of photography. After learning photography students started taking pictures for the yearbook. At the same time, they held the yearbook cover contest to choose the theme and covers.
But how did it feel for the students that worked on the yearbook?
Kimberly Gonzalez, eighth grade and the final editor, said that, “A lot of our photographers don’t see the point of getting different pictures.”
She felt like the pictures felt boring and dry for some of the pages of the yearbook.
On the other hand, Rachel Haro, eighth grade and an editor for the sports section of the Yearbook, felt like the class was extremely fun. Haro stated that she was very excited for the Yearbook.
If any seventh graders would like to be a part of yearbook next school year, they just need to put Yearbook as their top choice for elective.
