Students in the Southeast Middle School SRLA team ran the Friendship Run on Feb 15, where the runners ran around Hansen Dam. The students had to run 18 miles to complete the Friendship Run.
Many runners were nervous, anxious and scared before the run, while others were happy and excited to run since it was most of the runners’ first time.
Sergio Sanchez, an eighth grader in DREAMS said, “I feel kind of excited because I can add to my collection, I also feel nervous.”
Lilah Gale an eighth grader in DREAMS said, “I’m kinda because my left knee has given out and I’m worried that I won’t be able to run the Friendship run.”
After running the Friendship run many students said that it was fun and cool. While others said it was boring, difficult and way too easy.
Janet Quiche, an eighth grader in DREAMS said “It felt pretty great and it took me 3 hours and 50 minutes.”

Bryan Gonzales, a seventh grader in DREAMS said “ at first I was nervous since it was my first time, it took me 3 hours and 48 minutes and it felt rewarding.”
This might be rewarding because it was most of the runners’ first time and something to be proud of. This is also rewarding because many students complain about running one mile in PE while the SRLA team is running 18 miles.
Dylan Avonce, an eighth grader in DREAMS, said, “The race was horrible, there was no motivation. After running it I felt horrible ‘cause my legs were wobbling ‘cause it was so horrible.”
According to the Cleveland Clinic , after a workout or running a long distance people feel soreness caused by a microtear, a tiny tear in their muscle, which is a good thing that can repair their muscle or make the muscle grow.
