On June 10th, students will be moving onto the next school year in this middle school.
This school year has been kind of
crazy with new rules, field trips, and other fun things.
In August when school started they made a big change this school year. They made a new rule making people wear uniforms and not their regular clothes.
At first people would listen to that new rule but like going closer to the end of the school year people wouldn’t really wear it as often.
“I don’t like the uniforms. I feel like it restricts our ability to show ourselves,” said Bailey Lawrence-Lamabert, seventh grade.
Another change, September students needed to put their phones in a Yondr pouch because students would use their phones a lot.
“I didn’t like the fact that we had to put our phones in the Yondr pouch because after school we would have to wait in line to unlock it,” said Joseph Zamora, eighth grade.
In October they did a club rush where there were a lot of clubs trying to recruit people and tell them they should join.
In November the field closed and didn’t reopen until after Christmas break.
“I felt very disappointed because they closed the field and teachers disappointed everyone and I just feel very sad,” said Alexis Castellanos, eighth grade.
In December the FNAF 2 movie came out and probably a lot of students went to watch it.
“It was so lame. I don’t know why I watched it because the robots were so bad,” said Jesus Balderas, eighth grade
In January when all the kids came back from winter break, some students got new classes.
In February, students completed iReady testing for Math and English.
“I feel like it was okay, it was hard word choices,” said Ivoryrose Canada, sixth grade.
In March, SRLA ran the L.A marathon with more than 27,000 other people running it.
In April, teachers were about to go on strike because they wanted more pay and better funding in schools but they reached an agreement and got what they wanted.
“I liked it because we weren’t gonna have to go to school,” said Jesse Rivera, eighth grade,
In May students had the State testing for 4 weeks and had testing schedules for 3 hours.
“It was kinda medium but it was kinda hard staying in class for 3 hours,” said Sonny Maldonado, sixth grade.
Southeast Middle School has Grad Night at Knott’s Berry Farm taking place on the last day of school, June 10th.
Students mentioned their favorite moments of the school year and what made it special.
“My favorite moment was being with my friends, my friend group and just making new friends,” said Hector Pena, eighth grade.
This happened throughout the 2025-26 school year at Southeast.
