“Yes I watched it, and I highly recommend it because it is really relatable and teaches you a lot of valuable things. My favorite characters are Derpy Hoves and Fluttershy, cause they’re both real characters and their art is super beautiful,” said seventh grader Arthur Delgado.
Most people might think My little pony is a girl show, with all the magic and ponies, the themes of the episodes as well.
“It’s pretty colorful, and I watch it with my sister most of the time. I don’t have a favorite, they’re all really pretty so I guess I like all of them. I recommend it mostly to girls, I don’t think boys would watch it,” Jionni Bucio, seventh grader had to say.
My Little Pony is primarily targeted towards young girls. However, most of the interviews taken were majority male students. Seven out of the eleven interviews being boys talked about how they really enjoyed the show.
“I’ve watched a few episodes, I think I like it. When I was younger I used to be really girly, I liked princesses, my little pony, princess fiona, princess peach. I like how there’s ponies, they’re always on an adventure. My favorite was the purple one. Mad cute you feel me? I recommend it to little girls, little boys. If they like girly shows like me, I’m not afraid,” David Pena, another seventh grade student.
For the longest time, people have set norms where certain people have to act a certain way. For example, men have been set with the idea they have to act masculine, they cannot like things meant for girls. It shows them as weak. But normalizing the idea and actions of people breaking out of those norms, can help other people also learn, they can be unique in their own ways without worrying about how they’re viewed.
