Most people view Thanksgiving as a time for family and friends to come together to share thanks, spend time together, and eat. Some families celebrate Thanksgiving differently.
Families come in all shapes and sizes , for example sixth grade teacher Ms. Avalos states that she only spends thanksgiving with her mom, dad, and brother.
Seventh grade student named Hailie Diaz said that she spends thanksgiving at her tia’s house with her family and her tia’s family.
Usually many people eat turkey on Thanksgiving as a “tradition” but that’s not the case for everybody.
“Instead of eating turkey we eat chicken because we don’t like turkey,” said Ariel Rulvacaba, an eighth grader.
A seventh grader named Jefferson Avalos said that he ate turkey, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes.
Many families gather around the table and they all take turns sharing something or someone that they’re grateful for, for their tradition, but there’s some people who don’t have any traditions. They believe that a Thanksgiving tradition means just spending time with their family.
Overall many interviewees celebrate Thanksgivings similarly but also differently.
