From Oct 27 to 31, Halloween spirit week came to Southeast Middle School.
On Blackout Monday, students and staff wore all black. Twinsy Tuesday students got a friend to match with. Pumpkin Wednesday

students and staff wore orange and green shirts. Throwback Thursday: people wore 80s- or 90s-themed clothing. Last but not least, Halloween Friday, students got to wear their spooky costumes!
Nicole Torres, an eighth grader and DREAMS student, said she participated in some of the spirit week days.
Genesis Morales, an eighth grader and Dreams student, only participated in Twinsy Tuesday and planned not to participate the rest of the days.
On the first day of Spirit Week, students went up to leadership during lunch to get a “Spirit Week Passport.” Each day a student participated in spirit week, they got a stamp on their passport. Students who got all stamps and participated in all the days got a free dress pass.
Free dress day is important to students. Students that did not participate had to wear uniforms. Students who participated had to wear uniform pants.
Daniel Mateo, an eighth grader dreams student, said it would be beneficial for students if they got a free dress pass because they could freely express themselves the way they want.
Kevin De los Santos, a seventh grader, said it would be nice for a student to get a free dress pass if they participated in all the days in spirit week because it could be like a reward for students.
According to Lucio, the vice president of Southeast Middle School, said he started a petition as a reward for students in spirit week because a lot of students were complaining about how certain colors wouldn’t go with the dress code. He also made the petition so more students could participate in spirit week. The petition would take action in the second semester, according to Lucio.
