Mother’s day is where you would give your mother gifts to appreciate her. Mother’s day this year falls on May 11th in the U.S but on the 10th in Mexico. Either day, students celebrate the day with their mothers back at home by making cards and giving gifts or even helping around with duties at home.
Alejandro, 6th Grade DREAMS says he appreciates his mother a lot. He explained that on Mother’s Day his family threw a party and went out with his family. As a gift, he gave her a plant because he knew his mother loved plants. He said he celebrated Mother’s Day on both days but mostly on that Saturday. He says his family is Latino so they celebrated it on Mexican’s Mother’s Day and also his great-grandma’s birthday the same day.
Isaac, 7th Grade DREAMS says he does appreciate his mother. On Mother’s Day, he said his grandmother made carne asada at his house to celebrate. He gave his mother a pair of Air Force shoes because he heard his mother say she has wanted white shoes or Air Forces. He said he celebrated Mother’s Day on both Saturday and Sunday. He explains his family’s Mexican which is why he celebrated it on Saturday.
Jacobo 7th Grade DREAMS says he appreciates his mother. He said he and his family went out to eat at a restaurant together. He has not given his mother a gift yet because it will be a surprise. He said he celebrated Mother’s Day on Sunday.
Ashley, 6th Grade SEMS says she appreciates her mother deeply. She said for Mother’s Day she told her mom “Happy Mother’s Day” then gave a gift which took her two weeks to create. She said she gave her mother a video full of memories and a card of flowers. She knew her mother liked flowers. She said she celebrated Mother’s Say on the Saturday because her mom’s Mexican.
Steve, 6th Grade SEMS says he loves and appreciates his mother. For Mother’s Day, he celebrated it by giving his mom something he knew she could not afford which made her happy and made her breakfast in bed. As a gift, he gave his mother a necklace. He celebrated Mother’s Day on Saturday because he saw it on his calendar and knew it was a special day for his mom.
