All Star Sports: a club that provides all sorts of sports to students based on the season.
The first All Star sport, the soccer team, started Aug 21 and then continued with tournaments. This sport ended on Oct 5 and two new sports began: Flag Football and Volleyball.
Mr. Emanuel the coach who leads and makes sure that these sports happen explained that every student from Southeast may join and will be welcomed if they pass the tryouts for that sport. Also that he believes in his current teams and that so far their on a winning road.
SOCCER

Patrick Martinez said, in Spanish, his dad taught him how to play and he enjoyed it. He plays defense and he likes going to games.
Captain Kenneth Lopez led the team. He became captain because he liked soccer and was really good at it. He explained, in Spanish, that they practiced first with drills then practice plays together as a team.
Lopez said they won five games, losing only one.
FLAG FOOTBALL

Both adults and children who find this sport entertaining both to watch and play.
Flag football and football have many differences. For flag football, they would have flags around the waist. Instead of tackling, they pulled the flag to avoid injuries. Football uses more body force than flexibility.
Beyond The Bell at Southeast Middle School started a flag football team consisting of 20 students. Their coach Mr. Emanuel made the team based on how far one can throw or how well they can catch.
Flag football started with both male and female teams who practiced hard for their games. For the boys team, Jason Serrano led as captain and Karolina Machuca led the girls.
Their team captain, eighth grader Jason Seriano, takes on the center for his team, the one who throws the ball to the Quarterback, QB for short. He believes that his team might have a rough season due to some confusions with the players and some not showing up to practice as often.
People may want to play flag football because they might see it as a fun, energetic game that gets people together and people who play competitively would enjoy it.
“[I started] so I could get a better recommendation to play high school football and maybe high school college. And then on offense people play five, five” Serrano said.
The expression five, five means that each team has to at least play with five players in order to continue.
“I play football … because my brothers and my family come a long way from football … My brothers would always play football in high school and they became really good and I got inspired by them and my position in football is running back and defense,¨ said player Jayden Espinosa.
Side boys team won the game they played Nov 22.
VOLLEYBALL
Volleyball, unlike the soccer team, is an all girls team with Melissa Leocadio as their captain.
Even though volleyball is a popular game most people like to play, it currently only has its girls team because boys from the Southeast have yet to sign up for it.
Their coach Mr. Emmanuel states they meet up Thursdays for practice.
Melissa Leocadio, a returner to All Star volleyball, talked about why she joined the game and why she went back.
“I joined volleyball because I got bored of soccer [and] I returned because I won the championship… and I was promised if I returned I could be captain,” Melissa said.
To Melissa, becoming captain meant helping newcomers and being a good role model. It made her feel calm knowing she can help someone. She wants to prove that she was meant to be captain.
Aubrey Macias another returner to volleyball talked about why she joined
“I played volleyball because it was fun and chill. I joined again because it was fun and the coach is cool.”
People who may want to join can ask the couch upfront or when their new season had started.
