Is AI even good? AI could take our jobs but then again AI could find a cure to cancer.

People can use it for different learning styles to fit the person using AI and help them get a better understanding. It can also provide bigger access to resources.

Nathan Urrutia eighth grader SEMS said, “AI is good because it helps me do homework.”

Students mostly say it helps them with their homework because they do not understand and it becomes too difficult for them to do. Other students say that they use it because they do not understand the homework because they do not pay attention in class. 

However, it mostly does not help students because AI does the work for them. The students might say it helps them because they get the answers handed to them.

Magaly Gonzales, eighth grader DREAMS student, said she likes it in a way but also thinks it makes people not do their things on their own and just use it for cheating purposes.

Ian Martinez eighth grader DREAMS also said, “AI is mostly good because it helps you cheat off it” and stated overall helps him when he needs something.

Some people have privacy and security concerns, “as sensitive information is collected and used to create and fine-tune AI and machine learning systems,” states IBM.

Most commonly people use AI to cheat, from middle school students to high school students, and even college. The majority of students seem more focused on finishing their work without putting in the effort. 

AI becomes even more useful to students when they have to do work about a topic they do not know about.    

Jasmin Solis eighth grader DREAMS felt really negatively about AI because students rely on it and cheat off it.

With AI’s accessibility to everyone, students  have decided to stop paying attention. To them, they believe that since they can just use AI and they do not have to worry about studying.

DREAMS teacher Ms. Tran a seventh and eighth grader math teacher stated she felt negatively about most AI’s because it has negatively impacted students, it does the work for students. She also stated that it gives the students false answers most of the time.

AI could give wrong answers, according to the WebSans Solutions, because it does not know that topic well or does not understand the instructions given, but instead of saying it does not know they still try to help and do it its own way.

Students overall had very different opinions on this topic, some people like AI some people think AI gives answers and people do not learn. So what do you think? Is AI good or bad?
