The schedule change included removing two periods and having every class in one day. Most students and teachers interviewed said they prefer the old schedule. 

Leo Rodriguez felt more comfortable with the old schedule because he had the old schedule since sixth and seventh grade. 

Daryn Jordan, seventh grader, and Julio Vazquez Jr, eighth grader, both like the old schedule because they had more time in class for projects.  Now, they barely have any time for classes and projects.

Nicole Torres, eighth grader, does not like the new schedule because it got rid of more elective classes. Last year, there were three elective classes. This school year, students only have one elective class.

Dearion T, seventh grader, feels like the old schedule was way easier because he had so much more time for homework.

Not everyone preferred the old schedule, there are some people who do prefer the new schedule.

Allison M , eighth grader, and Kasandra C, seventh grader, both liked the new schedule change because they liked how classes were way shorter and that you can have all your teachers in one day. 

The new schedule wasn’t all bad, classes are shorter allowing students to see all their teachers in one day. The old schedule made students wait one day before seeing their teacher.

Not only students were affected, all the teachers were affected by the schedule change.

Ms.Tran, math teacher, said ¨Itś getting worse. The stress is catching up to me, the stress of doing too much and not sleeping enough for the last couple months is really got into me.¨

Mr. Ortiz is a fan of the schedule change because he was used to it when he was a kid. He feels more comfortable with the new schedule.  

Ms. Galvan said that the reason the schedule changed was due to funding cuts from LAUSD. 

The more classes there are, the more funds are needed. Due to LAUSD cutting the funds from SEMS, the classes had to be shorter to fit the funding provided.
