On Sept. 25 the Flag Football tournament started. The teams that competed in the event are made up of five people per team.
The PE department organized the tournament. Each grade has formed a team made up of players who have practiced and prepared.
“It’s pretty awesome to see kids working together, collaborating, and also trying to figure out ways to outperform the team they are facing,” said referee and PE teacher Mr. Munguia, who helped plan the event.
Games took place at the field during the first or second lunch, so everyone could come out and enjoy the games.
Students cheered for their grade from the sidelines as each team competed for the chance to play in the championship game.
Despite the competition’s friendly nature, there was a lot of pride on the line.
Many students said they felt excited because the students feel a part of something that brings the school together.
“We’re ready to give it our best and hopefully come out on top,” said Mia Bonilla, a sixth grader from the Packers
The all-girls team, the Packers, for the first time in school history there is an all-girls team.
“It feels like my team and I have a lot of pressure since our team is an all girls team and we would want to prove that football isn’t a boys only sport,” Bonilla said.
The tournament, a chance for everyone to show sportsmanship, teamwork, and pride in a Southeast Middle School Eagle.
The Cowboys, Chiefs, the Jaguars, the Packers, 49ers, Lions, Raiders, and the Bengals happened to make the playoffs.
