If you could remove or add anything to Southeast Middle School what would it be? Eagle News asked students this question.
An eighth grader named Nicole Torres said she would add better school lunch because she feels like the school lunch isn’t good.
Torres also stated that she wanted to remove Yondr pouches because she doesn’t think it’s fair that she has to put her phone in the Yondr pouches. She doesn’t use her phone at school and she thinks only the people that use their phones in school should put their phones in the Yondr pouches.
Ms. Sandoval, the eighth grade counselor said she would add more school spirit events because she feels like a lot of the kids don’t have a group of people to be with. She also said she wanted to remove Yonder pouches because they waste money and students don’t even put their phone in the Yonder pouches.
¨I feel like they’re a waste of everyone’s time. There’s students who don’t put the phone in the Yondr pouch…I think the teachers should have a bucket of phones,¨ Sandoval said.
Ms. Mayorga said she would add more sport opportunities for the students after school. She said she would also remove the lockers in the hallway for more space because it gets cramped during passing periods and if it was removed the students would have more space for students to walk in the hallway.
A seventh named Mason and sixth grader named Saray said they would add a vending machine because Mr. Gomez promised a vending machine. They are currently building one outside the girls locker room. They both stated they didn’t want to remove anything from SEMS.
Most people said they would not remove anything besides a few only being about removing Yondr pouches and the lockers in the hallways. Most staff and students said they would add something, the most common things said was the vending machines, more lunch time, and better school lunches.
