People believe that working as a main office clerk seems like an easy job, when in reality doing the job takes a ton of responsibilities.
Many of the students underestimate the amount of work that the main office does. One student named Kimberly Bianca said when kids arrive at school late or have got in trouble they call parents to inform them.
“They take care of attendance and make sure everyone is where they are supposed to be,” stated Valentina Meza, a sixth grader.
Main office clerks do so much more than just this. They act as receptionists, they answer all the phone calls, have the information for almost anything, and they also assist with tasks asked by administrators or teachers such as taking care of supplies and proof reading documents.
“My job in the office is to run all the supplies, all the coffees, and assist with admin, office staff, teachers, and the community of South Gate,” stated Ms. Frias.
Many people rely on her, meaning she has to be on time when it comes to delivering the supplies and work as a good support system, making sure the school runs smoothly.
The school’s administrative assistant takes care of the daily operations for the school’s office and acts as a primary source of contact for staff, parents, and students.
They need to make sure they have clear communication skills since when people have questions the main office has most of the answers. They handle reports and manage school budgets and scheduling appointments for the principals making them the left hand of the principal. This signifies that they are the second-most trusted, important, certain ally.
There are many more jobs that people in the main office do and the responsibilities that come with them. Having people actively working in the main office is what keeps the school up and running. They are what keep the school up to date and make sure the school is running smoothly and safely.
If we didn’t have them, things wouldn’t get done. Daily operations would slow down. Teachers and staff would have to do things like managing attendance, scheduling calls from parents, and distributing mail which pulls them away from educating students.
They would have strained communications like missed messages/calls about sick students, delays in emergency communication, and can not receive important information from parents.
No office clerks means no supervision in the front entrance which gives anybody the opportunity to walk in school grounds unnoticed which can then bring danger to the students.
This shows the importance of having main office clerks and how they keep the school safe and stable. If you would like to show your appreciation, you can on April 22nd which is appreciation day for the clerks in the main office.
