Students from Southeast Middle School have come back to school on Jan. 12. Since then, many students have had different feelings about coming back to school after such a long break
Most students came back to school happy because they got to see their friends and people they love after so long.
“It feels good to be back because I get to see my friends and all my teachers,” Nathan Urrutia, a DREAMS student stated.
School provides them with a safe space to interact with friends. Having good relationships with others can also help boost their confidence and academics when they have a good relationship with their teachers.
While some kids enjoyed coming back, other kids had different opinions on coming back to school. A student named Aaron Luna said that it felt weird coming back after so long because he had to get used to waking up early again and had to change his mindset. Students had to make new routines depending on how they spent their winter break.
Students have to restart their whole mindset by revisiting classroom expectations, changing sleep schedules, and reconnecting with friends to fit their new routine for school after having a lot of free time and re-learn expectations on how they must act in school.
Some students had mixed feelings about coming back to school. A student named Teyana Taylor said she felt good and sad to come back because she enjoyed where she traveled and what she did during her break but she also missed her friends.
