She is a fluffy, fat, gray cat with stripes, known for being lazy. Her favorite food is sushi and pizza. She’s a pretty popular cat and her name is Pusheen. 

“I found out about Pusheen when I was young because my sister had a Pusheen coloring book. I really liked how it’s a cute character. It’s creativity, shape, and how silly it is,” Danna Perez, an eighth grader SEMS student.

Pusheen was created in 2010, posted on a blog called ” Everydaycute”. Pusheen was in gifs, mini videos, books, stickers, and more.

“Yes, she’s like a gray cat. I like that she’s super cute and she’s a cat. I found out about her because my friend had a sticker of Pusheen,” said Pedro Felix, an eighth grader SEMS student. 

After her big rise in popularity, she slowly died down, and she became a part of the nostalgia of 2010.  But recently, Pusheen has sparked popularity over social media since 2024.

“I have a small idea, I found out about Pusheen on TikTok. I think she’s super cute because I really like cats. I think my favorite part is the character itself,” said eighth grader, Valery Bolanos. 

Social media has made a big impact on older trends. Pusheen is a great example, social media helping out Pusheen come back and get popular again. With the help of social media, like TikTok now a good portion of preteens and teenagers know the cartoon cat.

TikTok spreads out videos from the algorithm they think their users enjoy. Like if a user enjoys cat cartoons or cats in general the algorithm might show the person videos about Pusheen since it’s similar to their interests. 

 What most people like about the cat may be because she’s pretty relatable, and she is apart of many teenagers’ interests, especially teenage girls. 

There are multiple forms of Pusheen, like Pusheenicorn, Dragonsheen, etc. She has a husband, Tommy and she also has two siblings, Stormy and Pip. And the other other characters involving Pusheen are Sloth, Cheeky, Bo, and more.

“I like that she’s on Roblox and Fortnite cause I play Roblox and Fornite. I found out about her over Roblox,” Ramiro Garcia, an eighth grade DREAMS student.

Not only did people find Pusheen from social media, but also video games. In Roblox, anyone can create a game for the public to play, leading to many types of games being created, even some about Pusheen. 

Pusheen also had board games and card games for her. She collaborated with Fall Guys with a new skin, she also collaborated with Among Us with 3 new skins and a pet.

 Pusheen also had a makeup collaboration with Creme, having multiple products released in 2024.

There are multiple ways people can find out about trends, like finding trends through games, media, friends, etc. There isn’t just one way things become popular or people find out about it, there can actually be multiple sources. Pusheen is in almost every type of form people can enjoy.
