Southeast Club Rush, hosted by the Wellness Center on October 10 started at 11:00 a.m first lunch. Student showed off their clubs and or promoted it for students of all grades to join.
Club Rush took place at the quad tables placed in half box shape with a space for students to walk in and around the tables. Some booths played music, while others gave out small treats to people who joined while others just gave them flyers.
MESA, a club where students work together and practice engineering. The club tries to expand their growth mindset in fun ways. Ms. Mayorga and Ms. Tran host on Wednesdays at 3:15 p.m – 4:30 p.m after school.
Robert Soto explained, “MESA stands for Math Engineering science arts… I wanted to join MESA because I like making new things and learning new things,”
Santiago Machuca, a new member to MESA, talked about how they studied the heritage of pinatas and built a pinata.
Ms.Lawrence, a theater teacher for SEMS hosted two clubs: GSA and Game Changers.
“GSA stands for Gay Straight Alliance. It’s a club where everyone can be invited to join, everyone can be part of the club… everyone is welcome to be part of the group and as well as people can just be themselves,” Ms. Lawrence said.
Students might want to join GSA because the club welcomes everyone, gay, straight and even trans. No student can be rejected nor bullied on what they believe in.
Game Changers, a fun theater club where students come together to have and work together. Not only do students practice their acting skills they will create an end of the year performance. The club meets on Wednesdays after school at 3:15 p.m ending at 5:15 p.m
“I joined Game Changers because I want to see and practice more theater. And also Game changers is a drama club and leadership club after school on Wednesdays and we’re learning how to put together a good story,” eighth grader Ashton said.
Amir, a sixth grade student and president of the BeyX club, explained they focused on the BeyX games.
According to BeybladeJourney, some rules for Beyblades x can be if the opposing team Bey x stops the winner and gets a point, but if it breaks the opposite team wins 2 points. While if knocked out in a little compartment the other team still got 2 points and if their BeyX blade gets knocked out into the danger zone the other team gets 3 points.
“This is the BeyX Club… we focus on the physics on the BeyX blades and how they balance and go fast happens every Wednesday during lunch…Ms. Torres is our representative,¨student Amir said.
“I joined BeyX because I watched the show and I thought it was really cool and I like BeyX blades,” student David said.
Abigail Felix, Signing Club president, said their clubs meets at lunch with Mr. Astorga.
“So we will be having a bunch of little activities and the singing club is to help improve your voice on your notes and on your speaking,” Felix said.
President Elean talked about street art club. Street art style is more free and random than typical art. Street art uses lots of colors and is usually found on buildings.
¨It’s basically art just street style. Our teacher..representative [is] Ms. Moya room 220 and [it is] going to happen Thursday and Wednesday. I became a club leader because our old club leader wasn’t responsible so I just stepped in¨ Elean said.
