From Sep 15 to 19, Southeast Middle School celebrated Hello week, which aimed to make everyone feel welcome.

Ms. Lawrence, the one in charge of the event said, “Hello week is about inclusivity, making sure that we realize that there are people around that may not always feel included, feel part of the community.”

Students sent a Hello Gram, which was a letter to help meet other students.They could also wear something green for a treat during homeroom. Students also participated in a treasure hunt hosted in homerooms to get treats as well.

Both teachers and students participated in the activities hosted for Hello Week.

A few students said that they enjoyed Hello Week because it could make people feel better when they feel upset and can introduce them to other students or things.

Hello Week started because some people had noticed that some kids would sit alone during lunch or not be included in any activities.

Sandy Hook Promise, the organization who created Start With Hello Week, had made it because they wanted students from all grade levels to build connections, end loneliness and help each other.
