ICE has affected many students and teachers. Everyday people are being taken by ICE in the city of South Gate.  

ICE takes people that they see on the street walking or working, like the neighbors of the students. 

Jose Aguilar, an eighth grader in DREAMS said, “ICE took the lady I used to buy tacos from.”

ICE takes people who have not done any harm to their communities. ICE does not take criminals or people who harm the community, instead it seems like they take people who are regular everyday people. 

ICE has harmed communities since last year, taking people from their homes and tearing families apart. 

Kim, a seventh grader in SEMS said, “It makes me sad that ICE is taking immigrants because they are the ones who help build our homes.”    

ICE activity affects many schools because many students do not go to school and lose out on their education. 

In Minnesota, where ICE raids are more intense, students feel scared and parents do not want to send their children to school.

Mathew Duran, an eighth grader in DREAMS said, “ICE has affected my family because it doesn’t allow them to go out.”

On January 7th , 2026 Reena Nicole Good was killed by an ICE agent while she was supporting her neighbor who is an immigrant. She was killed for “ trying to run over” an ICE agent .  

On January 24, 2026 Alex Pertti was killed by an ICE agent, for trying to protect a woman who was getting attacked by ICE agents. 

Staff and teachers inform families and students for them to feel safe.

Teacher Olivia said, “We have a system that will notify all staff and teachers to not allow them in the school.”
