Did you guys participate in Hispanic Heritage Spirit Week at Southeast Middle School on Sep 22 to Sep 26?

Jeisson Medina, the secretary of leadership stated, “We picked [Hispanic Heritage] because we want Hispanics here at our school to feel welcome.”

DREAMS eighth grader Nicole Torres stated that “it’s important to make students feel welcome at the school since some places in LA might not be as welcoming and also since there’s a lot of Hispanics in the area.”

Eighth grader Genesis Morales stated the importance of showing school spirit: you represent your school and support it.

Rachel Haro, a DREAMS student in eighth grade, said, “It shows your dedication to the school.”

When spirit week happened, Ms. Tarr sent out a Google Form to each homeroom teacher for every grade level. Teachers will write down the names of each student who participated in that day’s spirit week. Each time a student participates, that counts as one point; if their homeroom teacher participates, that will count as 2 points.

Once submitted the grade level with the most points will get an end-of-the-year celebration. At the time of reporting there has not been any winner due to not a lot of teachers submitting the form.
