How do sixth graders feel in Southeast Middle School? Many sixth graders said they liked middle school and how they experienced it. But some sixth graders said that they missed their elementary school. And some 6th graders missed their friends that did not go to the same school as them.
Many sixth graders said that a big change for them was the schedule because now that they don´t have

1 class with one teacher, they have eight classes with different teachers. Also, sixth graders miss recess because now they have lunch and homeroom.
One sixth grader named Dayrn said that he does not like going up stairs because it gets too crowded. He said that sixth grade is different from elementary school. He also said that he likes middle school right now because he likes having multiple teachers.
Another student named Makayla said that middle school is different because she used to have all her classes with her friends. She also said that the schedule is not a problem for her because she has all her classes with some of the same teachers.
Also, many sixth graders said that they felt nervous because previously, they would only have one teacher instead of eight. The time they got out was a big change for sixth graders because some of them used to get out around 2 p.m. but now they get out at 3 p.m.
One sixth grader said that elementary school was better because they had more time to do more activities than middle school. But another student said that middle school is better because they go on more field trips and they have school dances.
Another big change for sixth graders was the way teachers teach their classes. In elementary school, they would explain a subject to you and show you examples on how to do it. But in sixth grade, teachers still still do that but it is more independent work. They also said they get more projects than in elementary school.
Some sixth graders might feel scared because they are used to a smaller school and the chances of going into a bigger school with more people and more teachers. But some sixth graders like going to a middle school because they would meet new people or they might meet their friends.
