On February 12, 2025, Mr. Astorga hosted a field trip to the Walt Disney Concert Hall. The students attended the Tchaikovsky & The Mermaid concert, played by an orchestra and conducted by Xian Zhang. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, a Russian composer, made the music for The Nutcracker and Swan Lake.
An orchestra is a group of musicians, playing instruments like strings, brass, percussion, and woodwind. For

example, the violin, the trumpet, the drums, and flutes.
The students received their tickets, sat down in the auditorium, and enjoyed a variety of different parts in the orchestra.
The first section started with the song Emerge by Micheal Abels, which played every instrument but the piano. Every instrument starts off with a solo, but combine into one song after their sections.
Continued after the first section, The second section Piano Concerto No. 1 by Tchaikovsky started playing. This song brought in the piano, which had a major segment within this song.
And finally, they ended it off with Zemlinsky’s The Mermaid. This segment took away the piano part.
A student named Jaden Banda said that he liked the second part because he knew what it was.
After the concert was , Mr Astorga took the kids to the park to wait for the bus. Many of the students, exploring the park, jumping in the water, or just hung out with there friends.
A student named Alexis said that she likes to hang out with her friends in the park. Another student named Julian said he likes to hang out in the park with his friend because they were running around and playing in the water fountain.
