Murals are pieces of art found on walls. They can be out for the public or inside as a decoration or display. They are pretty large artworks but that is what makes them an interesting piece to view.
There’s a new mural coming to the hallways of your school! This will be the newest addition of murals our school has had for years and should be a moment to remember.
This the first mural on campus will be the first to to be worked on by students. We have gotten word that the mural may start in a couple of weeks
The mural will be located in the area to the right of the DREAMS 7th – 8th grade. Art teacher Ms. Diaz’s classroom, near the balcony on the second floor.
“Seeing you kids express yourself in these murals. That’s my highlight.”, Ms. Diaz replies after being asked what she would be looking most forward to for the mural. “That’s something that [Mr. Hernandez] and I, and the kids, we want to talk about. For sure it is going to be something that deals with the school environment maybe unity.”
“The idea came from seeing the murals up, and seeing that there are four art teachers on sight, but only 1 was doing the murals. I figured that if there were more than 1 art teacher doing the murals, it would be cool if we all had a chance to display our student’s work on the walls.” This is the response given by the SEMS Art teacher, Mr. Hernandez.
When asked what he would be most looking forward to during the whole process, he replied, “I think just seeing how you guys take a prompt and make it your own. Also how you guys collaborate as a whole because murals are multiple artists coming together, and deciding on what they want to show together, and making it look like it’s worth it.”
Two students who will be participating in this upcoming art mural were asked what they were looking forward to about the process. “I’m just looking forward to having my work up on a wall.’’, Ileen Vazquez replied. Ethan Lopez replied to the question by saying, “Actually getting to paint with my friends.”
The students in the DREAMS advanced art class are very excited to start the mural and express the ideas they all have in mind. Mr. Hernadez is going to teach the art class the ropes of painting a mural. Shortly after that, we should kick off the process and start on the first-ever student-painted mural at this school. You, yes you, should be looking forward to our school’s first ever-student-painted mural.
