During Valentines Day at Southeast Middle School, students celebrated by spreading love all around the school. “It is a way to celebrate your love and express your love to your friends and the people around you” said Analia, 8th grade DREAMS student.
Some students around Southeast Middle School gave their thoughts on this day and the concept of Valentine’s Day.
DREAMS 6th grader Haley says that she has very positive feelings on Valentine’s Day as she usually receives gifts. Her way of celebrating love is by spending the day with someone special to her, her dad.
As a way of celebrating love on Valentines Day, the majority of students gave gifts to their valentine. They tend to

give gifts such as chocolates, stuffed animals, flowers, or even homemade gifts.
Another DREAMS student, Roselyn in 6th grade, said that she would want a Valentine and that she is planning on asking one of her friends and mentioned that she celebrated the holiday with her friends by buying them gifts and also receiving them.
Genesis 7th grader in SEMS said that she celebrated with her boyfriend. Her feelings on this day are overall great because it’s a day to express your love for others.
However, not everyone has positive feelings of this special day. Some people believe that this day is to give people a way to show off and find an excuse to express your love only one day of the year.
Sergio 7th grade DREAMS student expressed his negative thoughts and believes that Valentine’s Day is the WORST holiday. He expressed his very strong feelings by saying “People should stop posting online and keep it to themselves because it makes me depressed.”
Everyone celebrates differently, there’s no rules on how to celebrate this holiday. Southeast Middle School celebrated by hosting many activities as well as No One Eats Alone Day. For more information on No one Eats Alone Day visit Mia Zaragoza and April Callejas article, No one Eats Alone Day.
