We interview students from SEMS and ask their opinions about SBAC which starts in English and Math classes. SBAC measures student knowledge in ELA and mathematics to place you in the right classes. The testing started May 5th and ended on the 14th.
How did the students feel?
7th grader DREAMS Elia Telus said, “It’s okay, I haven’t really prepared for it but I’m also scared. I know it’s a big test coming up and I’m thinking about studying it soon so I can learn more about what to do and maybe get a high score.”
8th grader DREAMS Hector Patino said, “I feel like it’s going to be boring because its long, its three hours long.”
6th grader SEMS Aubrey Martinez said, “Not good. Because I feel like imma get really stressed out. Because we are gonna take like basically the whole day on a quad one test like two test.”
Did the students feel prepared?
7th grader SEMS Melanie Valencia said, “I mean yes and no. Because I know some stuff but I know that in some questions Imma get stuck, but I’m just gonna take an educational guess.”
7th grader DREAMS Julien Real said, “No, I’m running on three hours of sleep right now. So, I’m not really prepared for next week.”
Are the students confident they will do well?
8th grader SEMS Jayden Benitez said, “50/50 I don’t know what’s going to be on there. Hopefully what the teachers told me about the SBAC would be on the SBAC.”
