As we approach the marathon, are you ready?
DREAMS 8th grader Allisson Zavala said, “Nope because I’m really sore every time I run, it really sucks.”
DREAMS 8th grader Bella Ramirez said, “No because we’re running 26 miles and I’m really afraid.”
DREAMS 8th grader student Cesar Garcia said “Am I ready? I don’t know, I don’t think so.” These people may not feel ready, but I’m sure they got this.
2023 marathon finishers Anthony Cuautitlan and Marvanna Maldonado both said “Yeah.”

As SRLA is ending, what was your hardest and easiest race?
Allisson said, “The hardest was probably the 18-mile race and the easiest was the 13-mile or 12, I don’t know.”
Bella said, “My easiest race was the 15k (9 miles) and my hardest was the 20 miles.”
Cesar said, “My hardest race was the 10k (6 miles), and my easiest, actually I don’t have an easiest.” Anthony Cuautitlan agreed with the hardest being the 18-mile because “We had to do two loops and it was boring. And the easiest race, I would say, was the 5k (3 miles).” Marvanna agreed with him.
What gave you the motivation to keep running for all these months?
Allison said, “To keep on running? Oh well, my parents didn’t want me to quit so.”
Cesar told us, “Winning. Winning first place, I got close…” Let’s wish Cesar gets first place.
Bella stated “My mom’s support.”
Anthony said, “That when I get home, I can play Fortnite.” Marvanna said “Umm… never giving up.”
What time do you hope to get for your finishing time?
Allisson said, “Oh well I don’t know what time it’s ending so it’s whatever.”
Bella said, “5 hours.”
Cesar Garcia “11:28” (For the whole marathon he means, 11 minutes and 28 seconds.)
How did you feel about last year’s marathon, how hard would you say it was?
Anthony said, “Not that good because I gave up on mile 16.”
Marvanna said, “It was bad because I just kept giving up.”
How was the 20-mile practice run? Describe how it felt.
Allisson said “It was tiring, that’s all I’ve got to say. Statement ending.”
Cesar said, “It was good because I got to eat burgers after and I drank too many cherry cokes.”
Bella said, “It was alright but I should have just jogged more instead of rushing it.”
Anthony said “It was pretty good, I wasn’t sore the day after. I think I pulled something out.”
Marvanna said, “It was okay because I was actually pushing myself and I’m glad that I pushed myself.”
Any tips for the marathon?
Anthony Cuautitlan suggests to, “Keep it easy and don’t try to sprint at first and just enjoy the view.”
What does the LA Marathon offer?
In the marathon course, there will be volunteers there to cheer the runners on and make signs. Anyone can register to cheer. However, the most exciting thing at the finish line will be the DJ bleachers. When they finish the marathon they will get the La Marathon 2024 finisher medal.
The LA Marathon is more than just a plain track with no views; the runners will be able to see beautiful landmarks like Chinatown Dragon Gate, Little Tokyo, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and Beverly Hills City Hall. Due to this the roads will be closed off starting around 3 am.
The LA Marathon runners will be able to have some discounts just by showing their bib or Finisher Medal. Some of the places that offer discounts to runners are Aesop, Aveda, and Allbind.
