Every rainy day hundreds of students miss school in the LAUSD school district. This affects the school in many ways, mostly because a student’s attendance goes towards funding and helps the campus. Because of this, many teachers and workers at these schools tend to push for good attendance, and where the leadership class at Southeast devised a plan.
Jasmine, a SEMS 8th grader involved with the leadership group on campus about the fashion show she helped organize. She stated that the rainy-day fashion show came to be due to the low attendance rates during rainy days in LAUSD. The goal was to encourage more kids to come during rainy days.
With a rainy day theme, DREAMS teachers such as Ms. Perez, Ms. Lipp, and Ms. Tran, and SEMS teachers Ms.

Kish and Ms. Diosdado united and hit the runway as the show stars.
We also interviewed Aileen A., a DREAMS student in the audience. She told us that she was rooting for Ms. Lacey and really enjoyed the event.
The fashion show was entertaining and an event that had a lot of effort put into it. Simply the leadership and staff putting events such as this together really shows how willing they are to make school an entertaining experience.
