How old are you?
I am 55
What is your favorite color?
Red
What is your biggest achievement?
I am an awesome mom and I also consider myself an educator.
Why did you choose to work in a middle school?
I chose to work at a middle school because I think the ages 11-13 is an important time for students to start choosing what they want to do when they’re older and to start focusing not just on culminating middle school but also high school graduation. These are the formative years when students begin to choose what type of friends they want and the styles they choose.
How many years have you been an assistant principal or have worked in a school environment?
I’ve been working for 31 years in education, almost 32. I’ve been an assistant principal for 5 years.
What brought you to Southeast Middle School?
I came from Gompers Middle School. I was an assistant principal for 5 years, and this is a continuation. I wanted to serve another community still at a middle school level. Then I found this opportunity and then I was hired by your principal.
What do you think so far about Southeast?
I love Southeast Middle School. Everyone is so friendly. Students are very active in their work. Yes, there are some students I’ve had to talk to already but students are very open to suggestions and very open to advice that I am giving them to succeed
What is your favorite part about being a new assistant principal at SEMS?
My favorite part is meeting not just the staff but also the students. I know we have about 1200 students. So every day I walk the hallways and greet students during lunch. I would love to create relationships with some students, not all, and build up trust between them and make a difference in their life
What is a goal you have for SEMS as an assistant principal?
The goal I have for Southeast Middle School is that all of our students are successful. I hope that all of our students achieve as much as they can but most of all as middle schoolers you are ready for high school and that everybody graduates from high school and goes on to a college career and beyond.
