“There were a lot of kids fighting and not socializing the way they were supposed to and there was also a lot of drama,” states Ms.Moreno, a PSW at Southeast Middle School. The PSWs started clubs to keep students from acting out during lunch. Staff members at Southeast wanted to find a way to improve student involvement at the school. They started off with a crotchet club However, Southeast staff observed a need for more participation. To fix this issue, staff members let students run their own clubs. Some students have started their own clubs such as the Anime Club, D&D Club, Sanrio Club, Dance Club, and more.
Southeast student Anallyah B. started a club about nails. When asked why they started this club, Anallyah stated “I feel like nails really motivate people.” Another student by the name of Allison U. started a dance club. They stated that they started this club because they believe dancing can help relieve your emotions.
How can you start or join a club? Well, you can start a club by talking to any PSW at Southeast such as Ms. Moreno, Ms. Martinez, and Ms. Young. You can find them in room 122, located on the first floor.
