A creative contest hosted by Ms. Lipp for potential yearbook covers ran until September 15. Students from the leadership class created the contest for the posters about the 4 B’s.
When asked what the contest was for, Ms. Tarr, teacher of theater, arts, and leadership said, “We are doing a contest for a creative poster that we can share schoolwide that informs/reminds the students of the 4 B’s to create a positive school climate.”
For more information on the poster contest, we decided to ask the ones in charge of the 4 B’s poster contest. Students from the leadership class, Briseida Rodriguez, Ingrid Morad, and Anadelia Amaya. According to the poster committee, the contest will take place in about 2 weeks.
When asked what the yearbook cover contest was about, Ms. Lipp, French and Yearbook teacher said, ”The yearbook class decided on a theme of Tim Burton and we are going to have the entire student body create a cover for that. The contest is going to be from the beginning of September to September 15th.”
The winner of the yearbook contest this year is Jackie Rios and the runner-up is Emily Gomez.
When asked why students decided to join the contest for multiple reasons, Sam Gonzalez, 7th Grade, said, “I’ve always enjoyed art, I found it not only as a form to practice my art but to show it to the school and to help the school with their cover because I thought it was really cool how they were doing this competition.” Ivan Miranda, 7th Grade, said, “Because I am very passionate about art and the yearbook.” Jacob Pulido, 7th Grade, said, “Because I had nothing better to do.”
When asked how she felt about the contest, Sam said, “I’m very nervous because there is a lot of people that might be way better than mine but I’m still confident that mine will get at least some attention.” Ivan said, “I feel great because this is a new way for kids to show their artistic skills and what they’re passionate about and it’s for a good cause.”
These two creative contests will definitely provide enthusiasm for all students. Make sure to look out for the posters of the 4B’s while walking the hallways and for the final display of this year’s yearbook cover.
