Details on the Marathon
The marathon was on March 16, at the Dodger stadium to Santa Monica Blvd & Avenue of the Stars, Century City, running 26.2 across LA with an additional mile to get into the school at the finish line.
The marathon started at 7:00 am and due to traffic, “The bus pickup was at 3:45 so students had to be

there at 3:35.” The SRLA team had to wake up around 3:00 am in the morning and meet in front of the Southeast High School in order to make it in time for the run.
Before the marathon students were both nervous and excited as they have been training for this day. After the marathon, some students were sore and unable to walk much. On the other hand some students felt pumped up and willing to run more. Overall, they all enjoyed it and had a great time.
The Purpose of SRLA
The purpose of running SRLA shows students their limits

and to teach the students how far they can go. SRLA mainly focuses on the mind set you have, Accorinf to Ms. Martinez and Ms. Moreno, “be open to the idea that you can do great things as long as you think you can.” Joining SRLA shows students, their OWN purpose and that there are many more achievable things.
SRLA also allows you to meet new people and make new friends as you run for a better experience. Student leaders have to step up in order to get the team started and ready to run by leading the stretches and supporting them.
It takes courage and patience to run with new people, push to new limits, achieve new goals, make new memories. and potentially lead. At the end it gives you a purpose and a new experience, something you thought you couldn’t do, everything works out in the long “run”.
This year of runners
Mr. Mungia stated, “We’ve had quite a lot of runs already and this is something that will be challenging but something that can be accomplished and will stick with you.” SRLA had many tough moments but the students persevered and made it to the end, finishing strong.
“Be proud of yourselves for making it this far; enjoy the moment you cross that finish line and never forget that feeling! It is the best feeling in the world!” Ms. Martinez and Ms. Moreno said.
Based on Ms. Martinez and Ms. Moreno statement of “The different personalities and energies made this year quite different from other years,” SRLA had many enjoyable runs together, expressing themselves and working hard to reach their goal leading to the marathon.
