The 2024 presidential election happened on November 5th and Donald Trump won as president. We asked students on campus how they felt about the results and what they hope Donald Trump does with his presidency.
Majority of the people we spoke to didn’t really have an opinion on Trump winning other than hoping he makes things cheaper.
According to seventh grader Isaac C. states that he feels happy about the election results. “I hope [Donald Trump] stops tax on overtime, stops tax on tips, he closes the border to make it more secure.”
“A lot of people say that he will deport people and I’m not really from here and i really like it here so i hope he doesn’t deport me or people I know” SEMS 7th grader AJ states.
Bailey L claimed “It’s fine but it wasn’t the [election] results I hoped for. I hope he doesn’t do anything that would involve deportation.”
“I feel like Trump didn’t deserve that spot because, first off he’s a sexist and that goes against women rights so I feel like Trump doesn’t deserve to be the president because a lot of people voted for him because they thought he would help the Hispanics and stuff but in reality he wants to send them back and that doesn’t make any sense because a lot of people here in the United States are Hispanic, they come from other places. I hope he doesn’t take people away and the law doesn’t allow him to take papers from people that were born here. I also hope that whatever he does with his power, I hope it helps others and just benefits him,” Britney M who stated her strong and clear opinion.
“First off, I wanted Kamala to win because Trump is one, a sexist and he’s racist and I do not get how Hispanic and black people voted for him because he doesn’t like them and Kamala is good as she wants women rights and Trump wants the opposite. I’m just disappointed because of how he talks to his daughter, who is his own blood. Supposedly he’s supposed to lower taxes, so I hope in general, he lowers prices,” stated Brisa V.
