Pajama Day is a special event that has been set up that happens every Friday in the month of February, where kids are allowed to come to school in their pajamas.
Ms. Lendo, an attendance PSA, said “I know that Pajama Day is something students enjoy and we don’t typically allow.” She states when they do allow pajamas, it has a lot of participation.
Ms. Lendo saw that attendance rates appear to be low on Friday, so they implemented Pajama Friday to increase attendance rates on Friday. The average absences on Friday are 100 through 160 but now it has drastically decreased to only 90.
Overall, students seem to feel positive about Pajama Friday. It shows how the school can engage with students, and give them something to look forward to.
Sebastian Linares, a student of DREAMS said,” I feel like Pajama Day really shows students to express themselves. I was pretty excited for Pajama Friday. This really shows that the school hears and cares about the students and lets them have fun for a couple days.”
Robin Amaral, a student of SEMS, said, “Pajama Day is a good day and it really shows that the school listens to us. I plan to participate in it and I’m really excited for it.”
Melanie Tejeda, a student of DREAMS, said, “ I was excited for this Pajama Day, I was planning to participate since Wednesday.”
Overall, this proves that Pajama Friday´s are a good way for the students to be happy, while also boosting attendance rates.
