Sept. 17, 2024 marks the day we celebrated attending school for twenty-five days at Southeast Middle School with activities to spread our school spirit. The students we interviewed shared how they felt about this event, telling us even though they didn’t know it happened today, that it’s an interesting fact.
The quad became the center of attention during lunchtime as students lined up to purchase dance tickets and danced along with the DJ. Songs by Los Angeles Azules, Sabrina Carpenter, and Pop played as students filled the campus with loud voices.
Just like any other day, we celebrated with friends, knowing they’re an important part of our school life and said by

seventh grader Jacobo Fariac, ”I think the people I’ve met have made the experience even more special.” Showing how his friends have played a major part in these twenty-five days of school.
We asked students multiple questions about this day such as, how do you feel about your first twenty-five days back to school? Adrian Lopez in seventh grade saying, “I wanna leave already, I don’t really like school.”
Meanwhile, we asked the same question to Destiny Coria in sixth grade where she told us, “Good because even though it was difficult in the first week, it got easier later on.”
As we wrapped up the twenty-fifth day festivities, students showcased how it’s possible to feel both joy and indifference but in the end, possible for them to come together in the name of friendship.
