Cesar Ochoa, President
What made you decide to run for president?
I decided to run because I want to make school a good place to learn and have fun.
What do you do as the president?
As president, I sign things like fundraisers and start official meetings for leadership.
What did you have to do to be able to participate in the election?
I had to get a letter of recommendation from any teacher. I got mine from our magnet coordinator, Mr. Medina. I also had to record a video and actually get voted.
How did you get people to vote for you?
I made a video and in the video I said that if you vote for me you get a cookie. Not very big brained of me. I got into debt with that.
What went through your mind as you found out you won the election?
Happiness…
Samantha Gonzalez, Vice President
What made you decide to run for vice president?
I decided to run because last year I was treasurer for student council. I thought it would be fun and I thought it would be stepping up to a bigger place and I wanted to experiment with it.
What do you do as the vice president?
I do morning announcements with the other officers and it’s pretty fun. I also play a big role in leadership and I basically represent the students of our school.
What did you have to do to be able to participate in the election?
I got two recommendation letters, one from my teacher Ms. Higgins and my former teacher Ms. Torres. I made a video explaining what I would do for the school and the type of changes I would make to benefit our school.
How did you get people to vote for you?
I stopped stressing about that and I just left it up to whoever wanted to vote for me. I think I just have really good friendships so that played a big part in it.
What went through your mind as you found out you won the election?
So, actually it’s a funny story. I was outside getting breakfast, and had come back to go inside and nobody told me that I had won. Then, Ms. Mayorga came to Teacher Ray’s class, I had them for first period math, and she was like, “Congratulations!” and I was like, “What?” and then she said, “Oh you got vice president!” In that moment, I felt a sense of joy and I was like, “This is so cool!”
