The Golden Apple, an award given to a teacher every month, started in September 2022. The golden apple award represents the recognition to all of the teachers who did amazing things during that month.
Currently, 20 teachers have received the golden apple, soon more to exist throughout the year.

We asked 8th grade science teacher Ms. Lacey the importance of the golden apple, and she said, “The golden apple is something that Mr. Medina started to recognize the teachers like once a month, kinda like employee of the month or teacher of the month.”
We also asked what does the apple mean to her, she then explained to us that the golden apple got awarded to her on her very first year teaching, and that they awarded it to her because they saw that she would bring people to meet her students, and the staff thought that she did great so they awarded her the golden apple.

“The golden apple is awarded to that teacher that has gone far and beyond for the students also for his/her colleagues, it’s the person who spends the extra time with the students that ends up doing that little extra activity or lesson with the kids that they recall and remember it for the longest time,” states Ms Diaz, one of the people who helped make the Golden Apple.

Mr. Medina created the golden apple award. We had the chance to ask him about the golden apple and Mr. Medina said, “The golden apple is an award to recognize teachers for what they do each day, So, it’s given by teachers to other teachers based on things they do in class and outside of class, just recognizing them for what they did throughout the year.”
