The Valentines Friendship dance was set for February 13, but it was postponed to February 19.
According to Maria Aberdgo who planned the dance “We postponed it because of the weather and because every dance we have outside activities so we weren’t able to do them and they were part of the dance.”
Planning the Valentine’s Dance

Maria Aberdgo and Alexa Esparza, who are part of the committee, helped set up the Valentine Dance and planned to have this dance so everyone can enjoy it with their friends and just have a good time.
The dance was supposed to be on February 13th instead of hosting the dance on Friday, February 14th, like they did last year and would have fallen perfect with the theme on Valentine’s Day due to the fact that in the past event teachers were not able to volunteer because they wanted to go home and enjoy the rest of their weekend.
Additionally, leadership do not have leadership class for even periods, therefore if the dance is on an even day the people in charge of the dance have to be pulled out of their classes to prepare for the dances.
Alexa stated that it took about two to three weeks to have an idea on how they wanted the dance to be but the dance was already on schedule.
For music they will be playing English and Spanish music as well as taking in song requests from students.
The Valentine Dance
Grades 6th-8th were able to go to the dance and enjoy it, we interviewed two students from each grade.

Most of our interviewees had similar responses or agreed that the food was too expensive and should be cheaper with the pizza ranging to be about 2 dollars each. Jack Corona stated “Maybe make the food less expensive” ,Others said there should have been different or better decorations, different music and there should have been more games and activities. Songs they suggested were “Love” by Keyshia Cole, “Love Story” by Taylor Swift, “Pump it up” by Endor, and more Spanish music.
People who went to the dance had people to enjoy it with such as their friends and they had a blast.
Jazmin said, “I loved it, everyone was nice to each other, I thought it was a friendly space.”
